BT's first Dramaturg

Mali Schrader, '30, is Brownell Talbot's first Dramaturg for BT's theatre department and has been researching the spring play, Our Town.

Dramaturgs are experts in the study of plays, musicals, or operas. It is their job to provide the cast and crew with vital knowledge, research, and interpretation about the theatrical work in question so that they are—in turn—better equipped to do their jobs.

Mali researched the playwright, Thornton Wilder, the time period, and historic events surrounding the writing of Our Town and shared the information with the cast and crew. The deeper understanding and context will inspire the cast to create beautiful distinct characters for the show. Way to go Mali!
