BT Shines Bright at Nebraska Thespian Festival

This past weekend, several BT students attended the Nebraska Thespian Festival at the Holland Performing Arts Center. In addition to attending shows and workshops and visiting with and auditioning for colleges, BT students were active participants in the festival:

Angelina Bhandari, '27, Liam Garrigan, '25, Guy Shipley, '24, and Ava Larson Gallegos, '25, performed in Barbie-themed numbers for the opening ceremony.

Shipley, Larson Gallegos, AJ Puskar, '25, Aliyah Parrott, '27, Bhandari, and Ingrid Nelson, '25, performed in the All-State Show.

Students receiving Superior ratings and qualifying for Internationals included:

  • Musical solo - Larson Gallegos, Sammy Dodd, '27, Mahalet Kinde, '26
  • Musical duet - Kinde and Bhandari
  • Group song - Garrigan, Ahaan Gulati, '26, Eva Cohen, '26, and Gail Hartig, '26
  • Acting solo - Nelson
  • Ally Newman, '24, earned a Tech Thespy Superior rating, and they were also featured in the Tech showcase.

This is the largest number of BT students to qualify for Thespys at the state competition. 

Finally, Larson Gallegos presented an advocacy workshop during the festival as well as represented Nebraska Thespians as a state thespian officer. Larson Gallegos and theatre teacher Jenn Morgan worked behind the scenes while also introducing shows, awards, and more on the main stage of the Holland Center.
