Fifth grade teacher Dr. Natalie Simms has been nominated for the Salomon Prize, awarded by Global Education Benchmark Group, which recognizes students and faculty for their learning and growth in the field of global education.
Dr. Simms is collaborating with a team of international educators in cultivating global citizenship among BT's fifth graders by connecting them with peers from diverse cultures. Through interactions with students from the United States, Colombia, Angola, and Japan, the project explores the impact of geographical location on culture and the universal themes that unite humanity. Instructional methods involve a collaborative online platform where students exchange videos, fostering dialogue and reflection on global issues, which later inform discussions on historic events like WWII and current global conflicts. Congratulations, Dr. Simms!
