The Raiders Swim Team continued their impressive performance at the Riptide Long Course H2Opener held at the Wellmark YMCA Aquatic Center in Des Moines, Iowa. The team concluded the second long course meet of the season with outstanding achievements, including 112 Midwestern Swimming qualify times. Remarkably, 19 out of 23 swimmers achieved MWS qualifying times, resulting in a best time percentage of 76.92%, with 130 best times out of 169 swims. Additionally, the team set 15 new team records and achieved USA Swimming Motivational Times of 17 A-times, 8 AA-times, and 6 AAA-times.
The coaching staff expressed great satisfaction with the performance of all Raider athletes at the second long course meet of the season. Coach Jimmy shared his excitement about the athletes' growing attention to the USA Swimming Motivational times list, a focus he has been emphasizing with the team.
Up next for the Raiders is the transition to short course racing with the Thursday Night at the Races event scheduled for Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Brownell Talbot. This meet will provide an opportunity for the athletes to compete in shorter session, focusing on speed as they switch from Long Course to Short Course racing.
