Last week Science Department Chair Kari Newman, Amelia Nelson, '26, Gail Hartig, '26, Athiei Aguto, '25, and Tanya Bachu, '25, attended the Women in Science Conference in Lincoln. It was the 25th year of the conference and the group met people from 22 different schools from across the state. The trip included a tour of UNL City Campus, a banquet where key note speakers talked about how they became scientists, a department "fair" with booths set up for the different science opportunities that exist at UNL, workshops on entomology and engineering, and a lab experience with a group that is synthesizing and studying metallomolecules. It was a great opportunity to explore the many different fields of science one could go into.
